Sept 25, 2007: Danny Petric snuck out of the house to buy the videogame Halo 3 and was caught sneaking back in. The game was confiscated by his parents.
October 13 (approx): Danny spent the weekend with a friend after an argument with his father.
October 14-20: At some point, Danny took the key to his father’s lockbox and retrieved both his game and his father’s handgun.
October 20
6:58p: A 911 call was placed from the Petric family home reporting that both Sue and Mark Petric had been shot.
7:10p (approx): Mark and Sue’s 16 year old son Danny Petric was pulled over in the family’s minivan. He initially told the police his father shot his mother and then turned th gun on himself. Mark had survived and identified Danny as the shooter.
December 2008: Danny Petric was put on trial for the aggravated murder of his mother and attempted aggravated murder of his father. He argued not guilty by reason of insanity and chose a bench trial.
January 11, 2009: The judge found Danny Petric guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to 23 years-life.
