My thoughts:

I’m always interested in cold cases solved through familial DNA and we see a lot of them these days. While giving the victim justice and the family answers is really important, I always think of the people who live under the cloud of suspicion for years. Michelle Martinko’s parents died thinking her ex-boyfriend was guilty. A conviction, in this case, was also an exoneration for him.

Thank you so much for listening!

—Charlie—

For 40 years, the city of Cedar Rapids wondered if they had a killer among them. And when the case finally looked solved thanks to DNA, the defense looked back to evidence collection methods from the 1970s and said it wasn’t such an open-and-shut case.

This case is *solved*
